New capital of Egypt is to be built soon: the new, yet-unnamed city is to be located 45 kilometers east of Cairo and just outside the Second Greater Cairo Ring Road in a currently largely undeveloped area halfway to the seaport city of Suez. Today’s Cairo with its 20 mln inhabitants (planning to increase by 50 mln by 2050) truly needs a bit of fresh air. The city would become the new administrative and financial capital of Egypt, housing the main government institutions and foreign diplomatic missions. On 700 sq km total area, it would have a population of five million people at the launch phase. According to the announced concept the new capital is going to be a green, sustainable and easy-to-live-in city.
In correlation with the Egyptian Government strategy on attracting foreign partners into this giant construction project, on the 26thApril, 2018 headquarters of the Austrian Economic Chamber (WKO) hosted Egyptian-Austrian business forum. Representatives of the state authorities and private companies of Egypt presented to their Austrian potential partners opportunities for possible bilateral co-work.
In the frames of the Forum AVK GmbH held B2G negotiations to the Economic Advisor to the Minister of Planning, Monitoring and Administrative reform of the Arab Republic of Egypt and to the consultant of the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Arab Republic of Egypt. As a result of these negotiations parties concluded on the cooperation possibilities in regards to a number of concrete projects on the territory of Egypt. Furthermore AVK GmbH agreed with the Austrian Trade Commissioner to Egypt on the assistance from the Embassy of Austria in Cairo in the process of establishing direct contacts with the national sports authorities of Egypt.
