Visit of the President of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen to Tallinn
01.06.2018, Tallinn, Estonia
Did you know that the grandfather of the current Austrian President was the member of Pskow city Government (Russia)? According to the public open sources the story was as follows: in 1700 or 1763 the ancestors of Van der Bellen emigrated from Holland into the Russian Empire. Van der Bellen's grandfather Aleksander von der Bellen served as the head of the civilian regional government of Pskow. Claiming Dutch origins the family changed its name from „von der Bellen“ into „Van der Bellen“. During Russian Civil War a part of his family escaped from the Bolsheviki and migrated to the newly independent Estonia. In 1931 Van der Bellen's father, who was also called Alexander, married an Estonian lady Alma Sieboldt. During the 2nd World War in February or March 1941 future President’s father, mother and older sister moved to German Reich. Later his parents came to Vienna, where their son Alexander Van der Bellen was born in 1944. From Vienna the family escaped further to Tyrol where the future President was raised.
In June 2018 AVK GmbH – as a part of the Austrian official and business delegation headed by the President of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen – visited the Estonian-Austrian Business-Forum in Tallinn hosted by the President of Estonia Mrs. Kersti Kaljulaid. The Forum had the goal to further strengthen the economic ties between the Estonian and Austrian business communities. During the Forum AVK GmbH Vice President had an opportunity to present the latest achievements of AVK GmbH to the President of Austria during tete-a-tete talk to him and his spouse Ms. Doris Schmidauer.
Prior to Estonia, Austrian business-delegation visited also Lithuania and Latvia. In all three Baltic countries AVK GmbH had a super intensive program of B2B meetings with the National Olympic Committees, Federal ministers of sports, vice mayors of three capitals, representatives of other public authorities and private sector. The main organizers of the mission – Austrian Economic Chamber (WKO) and Advantage Austria – also prepared networking program and sightseeing events for the delegation members. AVK GmbH would like to express special gratitude to Ms. Ingrid Valentini-Wanka, Austrian Commercial Counsellor for the Baltic States and to her brilliant team for the great job done.
